Selborne at home to St Andrew's

St Andrew's College trek from Grahamstown to East London to play Selborne College, an Eastern Cape fixture that dates back to 1930.

This year Selborne have been doing well – not so well last weekend when they  bumped into Grey College and lost 51-21 though the run of play did not suggest such a score.

Altogether Selborne have played 11 matches, winning seven, drawing with Diamantveld and losing three. They are at present ranked seventh on the FNB Top 20. Their three defeats have been at the hands of Top 20 sides – HTS Middelburg, Outeniqua and Grey. They have in turn beaten Dale who are on the Top 20.

St Andrew's have not fared nearly as well. They have played eight, winning three and losing five. They have not played any Top 20 teams.

Achievers

Eastern Province have two teams at Craven Week. The Eastern Province team is chosen from the whole of the province but the Country Districts team is chosen from teams outside the 'urban' areas, that is the coastal strip from Uitenhage to Humansdorp.

Sazi Sandi of St Andrew's is the only player from the school in the Eastern Province Craven Week team.

St Andrew's have three players in the Eastern Province Country Districts team – flyhalf Anthony Dakin, who is the captain and wings Grant Dixie  and Xolile Mdlokovana who is not in the team to play Selborne.

Border have not yet chosen their teams but Selborne are likely to have more than any other school in the team. Centre David Brits and flyhalf Morgan Steyn look certainties for they were in the Border Craven Week side last year.
