Seon de Jager - Captain of Hoerskool Middelburg

Hoerskool Middelburg captain Seon de Jager knows that his side will be the underdogs against HTS Middelburg this weekend but he is backing them to cause an upset.

His opponents boast eight Craven Week players in their team, but the Middelburg skipper who is in his third year in the first team is adamant that his side have what it takes to win as long as they keep their discipline.

"Looking at our first team they lost to HTS Middelburg when they were U14 (87-0), U15 (25-5), U16 (10-8), but this year we have a great chance of beating them.

"Our team unity will determine the outcome of the game and not making a lot of mistakes," he said.

The imposing 1.81-metre, 90kg openside flank is determined to make as many tackles and turnovers as he can and explained that his side will focus on their set-piece as an attacking launch pad.

"We play a quick game and try to keep the tempo very high as we don't have a team with big guys. Our strengths are our line-outs, scrums and tempo of play.

"They [HTS Middelburg] play a lot of stand offs and pick and drives. Their scrumhalf is excellent and they use him to set  up their forwards," explained the Hoerskool Middelburg captain, who would like to either join a rugby academy or study engineering next year.

Although he knows it will be a major challenge, De Jager remains confident that his team have what it takes to beat their rivals, but stressed the need for his sidee to "raise their game and play their hearts out".
