St Andrew's host Bishops

It's a big day in Grahamstown on Saturday when St Andrew's host Bishops, a match first played in 1896.

There is inevitably extra rivalry because of the similarities between the two schools. They are both private schools, both Anglican foundations of roughly the same age. Both have the same sort of parents, the same sort of staff and the same sort of boys, both schools enjoying sport and sporting rivalries.

They are both schools that take cricket seriously and so will have limited chance to prepare for a match of this nature, but they both have played a little.,

Last week St Andrew's went to Uitenhage and beat tough Daniël Pienaar and on Thursday they took part in Graeme College's Rugby Day and beat Pearson 21-12. Bishops have had won match of 20 minutes each way at Newlands and beat Stellenberg  25-10.

In days gone past it was just the first teams that met. This year there are again more than just the 1st XVs involved.

Oh, to be in the Old Andrean Club, now that Bishops are there!
