St Andrew's win K-Day
The St Andrew’s College 1st XV hosted old rivals Kingswood in the annual K-Day clash on Lower Field, surrounded by a huge number of spectators who had turned up to witness this great sporting event.
St Andrew’s College started slowly and it was the visitors who hit the ground running. Kingswood scored a brilliant try out wide and took an early 7-0 lead. St Andrew’s College hit back straight away with a brilliant try by Robbie Ball created by Lelo Mama.
Kingswood benefited from a number of penalties and some accurate kicking from their fullback, Cameron Hertz. St Andrew’s College on the other hand, ran in three more tries, a second to Robbie Ball as well as tries to Jason Baggott and Courtney Archer.
The teams went into the break with St Andrew’s College holding a slender 26-23 lead and the game still very much in the balance.
The second half started with St Andrew’s College looking more focussed and determined. The first try after the break was run in by captain Sintu Manjezi after a sustained period of pressure. St Andrew’s College would add three more tries before the end with Ben Dovey and Murray Leith rounding off two great moves before Robbie Ball capped off a brilliant performance by scoring a hat trick on the full-time hooter to take the score out to 46-23.
