St John's hosts prep festival
St John’s College are looking forward to hosting the 10th edition of the Preparatory Schools Easter Rugby Festival.
The following schools are taking part. Cordwalles Preparatory School (Pietermaritzburg), Orchards Primary School, Woodridge Preparatory School (Port Elizabeth), Clifton Preparatory School (KwaZulu Natal), Waterkloof House Preparatory School (Pretoria), Pridwin Preparatory School, St Benedict’s Preparatory School, St Stithians Boys’ Preparatory School, Maragon, The Ridge School, Virginia Preparatory School (KwaZulu Natal) and Leeuwenhof Academy
We also extend a warm welcome the Kwa-Zulu Natal Development for the first time to the Easter Rugby Festival. This year’s Festival is confident that it will be very successful, displaying some entertaining Preparatory School rugby, played in an atmosphere of sportsmanship and camaraderie.
The Sport Science Institute along with the HPC at the University of Pretoria will be running a coaching clinic for the participating Prep boys. There will be HPC staff, TUKS Varsity Cup players, in addition to a few Bulls players (not on tour) conducting the clinic. This will take place at 14.30 on the afternoon of Thursday 28 March.
This will be the second year that the Prep boys will be involved in the prestigious capping ceremony. This takes place the Wednesday evening (27 March) before the festival kicks-off the following morning, in the Memorial Chapel at St John’s College.
All the coaches, masters and most importantly, the boys, look forward to an exciting long weekend of exciting and pleasurable rugby, played bare-foot on the fields of St John’s College.
