St Stithians on its Easter Festival
Some fixtures, like tennis, hockey, and squash, will begin on Wednesday 23 March 2016.
Over 1 000 players are expected to play over 200 fixtures during the Easter Sports Festival.
This year, we celebrate 33 years of rugby and 15 years of hockey at the festival. The other sports that will be played at the festival are as follows:
* Netball, which will be part of the festival for the fifth time this year
* The Tennis tournament, which will be part of the festival for the fifth consecutive time this year
* Basketball, which will be part of the festival for the third time this year
* Squash (where both boys and girls participate), which will be part of the festival for the third time this year
* Cross Country, which joins the line-up for the first time this year
Tennis, unlike the other sports, is a competitive tournament. All the invited schools play against each other and accumulate points for every game won. The points are added up at the end of the tournament and positions 1 – 6 are determined. The winning school is presented with the Kevin Anderson trophy and all the other teams receive medals and photographs. The trophy is presented by Barbara Anderson, Kevin Anderson’s mom, on behalf of Kevin Anderson who is a former St Stithians College student.
St Stithians College is looking forward to welcoming a range of players and spectators to the festival. We look forward to seeing visiting teams, coaches, players as well as Saints families, alumni, various sporting enthusiasts and the media at our festival this year.
