The Big Wellington Clash
Bergrivier and Weltevrede meet in an FNB Classic Clash at Boland Stadium in Wellington on Saturday. It is more than just a fun day.
It is a fun week. The contests last the week and climax in the 1st XV match in the Stadium on Saturday. It is a time for much excitement and jollity. It starts with a church service on Sunday and goes on with many activities through the week.
Bergrivier have probably had the best result of the season – beating the strong, creative Schoonspruit side of Malmesbury. Weltevrede's best result was probably its draw (31-all) with Klein Nederburg.
The most influential player is surely the Bergrivier captain,. El-Shaun Davids who captained his side to a big victory last year and is back captaining it again this year. Last year he played for Boland at the Academy Week and this year the small but tough hooker is playing for Boland Under-19.
