The Grey Boks
The team of 22 Springboks to play the All Blacks in Soweto on Saturday has seven Old Boys of Grey College in Bloemfontein. And yet it is not a record!
The Old Greys for Saturday's South African team: Johan Goosen, Ruan Pienaar, Jannie du Plessis, Adriaan Strauss, Tiaan Liebenberg, Coenie Oosthuizen and Flip van der Merwe. That is remarkable and yet it's not a record.
Statistician Eddie Grieb has pointed out that there were eight Old Greys whop played for South Africa against Scotland in 2010 – Frans Steyn, Ruan Pienaar, Deon Stegmann, Flip van der Merwe, Jannie du Plessis, Bismarck du Plessis, Adriaan Strauss and CJ van der Linde.
