The Tullyallen Road Connection

Go down the years and search for undesirable incidents between the two schools. My memory goes back to 1966 and after dredging my memory I came up with two possible incidents which were in themselves really unremarkable. It is a good relationship and eagerly awaited twice every year. This is the second one this year and it brings the curtain down on the season with a bang.

If you look at the results down below, you will see that there have been times when one school has been dominant but really a surprise is always possible and a good thing.

Bishops have had the better of the 21st Century. There have been 29 matches, one of which was drawn. Of the rest Bishops have won 23, Rondebosch five. In fact this year there is little to choose between the two sides.

Rondebosch do have home advantage – and they have Zane Davids, a flank who is now playing centre in Danie Gerber fashion. He is wonderful from broken play, fast and strong.

There will be a difference in playing styles – Rondebosch conservative, Bishops flamboyant.

The Bishops coach, André Jacobs, is retiring at the end of the year. That will add to the desire and emotion of the Bishops side.
