In fact, it is just the third match between the two schools which are roughly 850 km apart.
Clanwilliam is a beautiful town up the West Coast of the Western Cape, near the mighty Cedarberg with an irrigation canal to bring water from the Clanwilliam Dam on the Olifants River to feed farming. It is a small town.
Jacobsdal is a smaller town just over the boundary into the Free State, an artificial boundary created by the British so that Kimberley could be in the Cape Colony after the discovery of diamonds.
Landboudal is a boys' boarding school. Augsburg Landbougimnasium is a fusion of two schools, Hoërskool Clanwilliam and Hoër Landbouskool August burg. The fusion happened in 1996 and the school offers both academic and agricultural subjects.
Both schools are keen on their rugby but have not had outstanding seasons so far. Landboudal has won in four matches, over Monumentpark of Kraaifontein. Augsburg's only win was over Rustenburg. Landboudal lost to Overberg of Caledon, Fichardtpark and Langenhoven Gimnasium of Oudtshoorn, Augsburg to New Orleans of Paarl, Bethlehem Voortrekker, Driehoek of Vanderbijlpark and Upington.
Each side has one of the previous Classic Clashes.
