Under-13 Craven Week: The unbeaten five
Tuesday, July 3, was the second day of the Under-13 Craven Week being played at Hoërskool Diamantveld in Kimberley where five teams are still unbeaten.
Western Province had their second big victory, even bigger this time, Eastern Province won comfortably this time, Boland just got home and two winners from Day One drew, South Western Districts and the Blue Bulls.
The third round and the final day will be played on Thursday, July 6 and Friday, July 7. Four matches in five days should see the boys on a tired journey home.
Free State tried but Western Province were far too good, scoring 10 tries to two. Kyle Smith kicked seven conversions.
The match between Boland and the Golden Lions was as close as the score suggests. Boland led 10-8 at half-time and with just minutes to play, the Golden Lions led 20-17, three tries apiece. And then Boland burst through for the try that won the match.
Eastern Province scored six tries to nil in beating the Griffons 36-0, thus securing their second victory much more comfortably than the first. Flank Lawu Bulali scored two tries.
There was nothing much between the two sides when the Blue Bulls met South Western Districts. The half-time score was 5-all, the final score 12-all. Each side scored two tries and a conversion.
In their match, Border scored four tries and the Pumas two, but no tries were converted.
The Valke took their chances better against a determined Griqua team. Their defence and two tries set up their 15-0 win, a second defeat for the home side.
