Union Captain - Joshua Harpur
It may not have been the best season for Joshua Harpur and the boys from union high, but the captain is determined to make things right come the weekend's Classic Clash with Hoër Volkskool.
The 90kg lock will lead what he believes is his school's strongest possible team.
"I believe that the team for Saturday is the best 15 players in the school," he said ahead of the Classic Clash.
"They definitely have the biggest hearts even though we a young group."
It is clear from speaking with the captain that the Union team is one that plays with great pride and due to the nature of the weekend's match – they are bound to be fired up.
"The team morale is still high and we are determined to make up for all our mistakes on Saturday!" he continued.
"I like to lead by example and always keep the team motivated no matter what the circumstances."
Harpur is gearing up for a tough game against Hoër Volkskool, labeling it as potentially one of their hardest ever.
"There is definitely a huge rivalry between the two schools and I am sure that Saturday will be the hardest game of our lives," he said of Volksool.
Even with that being said, the captain still believes his team has what it takes to overcome this tough opposition.
"I expect them to give there all and leave everything they have on the field, if they do that I am sure that we will come out on top."
Harpur has ambitions to continue his rugby career overseas when he travels to England for his studies.
He has hopes of playing for some of the bigger London in The Harlequins or London Irish.
