Union High Primary Festival

Union High School’s Primary Department hosted a most successful Junior Rugby & Hockey Festival during the recent school holiday.

The festival was opened with a moving ceremony in which all participants from 18 visiting schools were welcomed by Lee Joseph, organising convener of the tournament.

Both rugby and hockey of the highest standard were played over the three days on Union High School’s sports fields. The objective of the festival is for young sportsmen and women to play competitive matches while forging friendships and developing character. True sportsmanship was certainly the winner of the festival.

Parents, staff and friends were treated to unequalled hospitality in the Union by a dedicated team of Union Primary parents. Spectators enjoyed attractive and exciting rugby and hockey matches played in good spirit by many young stars of the future.

As Union High School bade farewell to Mrs Anne Beagley who started this Junior festival and convened it for many years, it was announced that it will, henceforth, be named “The Anne Beagley Rugby and Hockey Festival”.
