Werner Louwrens - Captain of Piketburg

Piketburg captain Werner Louwrens knows that his team will have to dig deep when they come up against Hoerskool Schoonspruit in their FNB Classic Clash this weekend.

Louwrens is happy with the form of his team so far this year, having led them to 10 victories out of their 12 matches, but that does not mean that they will be taking anything for granted against a Schoonspruit side that always gives them a run for their money.

The Picketburg skipper is in Matric this year and has played at blindside flank for the first team for two years now, so he will look to lead from the front as his team aim to launch a massive assault in the forward pack.

Lowrens explained that his side will need to keep Schoonspruit on the back foot as they pose a significant threat out wide.

“I expect a fast running game because they have a good backline,” he said.

The Piketburg captain added that his side will need to maintain their standards until the final whistle in order to finish on top on Saturday.

“We need to stay focused, disciplined, committed and keep with our game plan we practiced the past two weeks,” he explained.

Louwrens says that he is proud of the effort his team have put in so far this season, but he is desperate for them to show that they can step up in the big games, which they will get an opportunity to prove against Schoonspruit this weekend.
