Westville crushes Richards Bay
Match Report
On Saturday Westville’s 1st XV extended their winning streak to 11 games when they crushed Richards Bay 1st XV 87-5.
The game was totally one-sided and saw a very well drilled Westville unit run in 13 tries. The rout began almost instantaneously as Westville scored virtually from the kickoff. This pattern continued throughout the game as Westville scored at will.
Richards Bay did manage to cross the Westville line once, but it only served to motivate the hosts even further.
Westville will be pleased with the result, but are under no illusions that they have achieved all that they set out to. The third term fixtures will be extremely tough, with Westville traveling away to both Michaelhouse and Kearsney. Michaelhouse have had a poor season by their standards and will be looking to make amends. Kearsney are always well drilled and will pose the biggest threat.
Westville will be in action at the Pharos World Legends Festival on the 20 and 22 June were they will host Queen's College and Grey High ( PE ). These games will not be played at full strength as all teams have players not available for selection due to Craven and Academy weeks, hence teams will be playing “ Festival XV’s “ made up of stayers.
Westville will also be participating in the DHS 140th Anniversary Festival in July, where they will play two fixtures.
