Worcester Gim captain - Christo Smit
Christo Smit has never seen Worcester Gim triumph over FNB Classic Clash rivals Drostdy since being at the school, but he hopes that will change this weekend.
The 1.95 metre tall flank, who has represented Boland and North Boland from under 12, has taken on the captaincy role with both hands.
"It has been a great honour for me to be named captain of the 1st team, the added responsibility is something I really enjoy," said Smit.
"One of my highlights at Worcester Gim has definitely been captaining such a quality team in our first home game against Swartland."
Smit's personal captains philosophy is one of respect; respect for the game as well as his players.
The captain is one that leads by example and it is clear that his players look up to him for that leadership, he believes that you should be willing to do what you ask of your team.
"I always treat my players with great respect, it is a good way to get respect back," he added.
"There is nothing that I will ask a team-mate of mine to do that I am not willing to do myself."
The Worcester Gim season has seen its fair shares of ups and downs this season but Smit thinks these tribulations have made them stronger as a unit.
Their last game was lost due to their own errors but Smit is convinced that the same wont happen again as his team have learnt valuable lessons.
Smit is expecting a hard and Physical game when his team face off against Drostdy, his message to the team has been for them to concentrate at practice and play for each other.
