Western Province were the team that fared best at the LSEN Craven Week just ended in Uitenhage.

On the final day they played Eastern Cape at HTS Daniël Pienaar and won 26-12. They were chosen as the best-performing teams though the Griffons and South Western Districts also ended the week unbeaten.

Despite the rain, the two teams played with enthusiasm.

Western Province were up 14-0 before Eastern Cape got on the scoreboard. For the Westerners scrumhalf Jason Wessels and hooker Nazeer April scored tries both converted by flyhalf Keanan Parnell. Eastern Cape centre Darren Ruiters scored the first try for his side before the break.

That made the half-time score 14-5.

In the second half Parnell scored a try. Then Migale Dawood scored a try and converted it. 26-5.

Eastern Province improved the scoreline when Duane Joseph scored a try which Rameez Nell converted to complete the scoring.
