Wynberg captain: Keagan Tim
Wynberg skipper Keagan Timm believes previous results will count for little when his side take on SACS in their Classic Clash this weekend.
It has been a good season for Wynberg so far whilst the southern suburbs rivals have struggled in comparison, but Timm insists his side will be taking nothing for granted on Saturday.
"SACS is a good side and can play extremely well when they want to. I expect them to come out hard and give everything that they’ve got.
"To not focus on previous results from the year. That Saturday’s game is not going to be easy and SACS will come out hard. As a team we always follow the same motto that is that the next game coming up is the most important one," he said.
The 1.87m 106kg No.8 made it to the final round of the WP Craven Week trials but missed out on selection, although he hopes to force his way into the Under-19 side next year by playing for UCT.
Timm was part of the side that beat SACS in this fixture last year, but he will not be on the field on Saturday due to a broken nose.
"The team for Saturday will be an experienced team as many of the players were in the set up last year.
"It has been a great season thus far but is far from over. We were unlucky to lose against Paul Roos and Paarl Boys as we only lost be a deficit of two points. We are not the biggest team out there but we put in an immense amount of heart into our rugby," he said.
The Wynberg captain has enjoyed the opportunity to lead from the front and impose himself on the opposition from the back of the scrum this season.
"It was a great honour when I was announced as captain. I am extremely proud that I have been given the opportunity to captain such a talented and hard working group of boys. It really has been a pleasure to lead them thus far.
"I believe my strengths on the rugby field is that I am a strong ball carrier, a big hitter, physically dominant, a good decision maker and a person who the team can rely on. As a captain I make sure that I always keep my head up high and I keep encouraging the team to never give up no matter what the circumstances," he explained.
Timm has got a bursary to study at UCT next year and hopes to launch a professional career while also earning a degree.
