Wynberg Festival Matches, Day 1
The Cape is, as usual, having wonderful autumn weather, perfect for rugby. There is no wind, a bit of cloud to make it cool enough but warm enough for perfect rugby at Wynberg Boys' High.
Until the last match, the scoring was high. The last match was closer than the score suggests.

Bellville vs Walvis Bay, 31-21
Wynberg vs Hugenote, 51-5
Stellenberg vs Pearson, 39-5
Rondebosch vs St John's, 24-21
Tygerberg vs Windhoek High, 50-12
SACS vs St David's, 19-7
Bellville vs Walvis Bay
It was overcast in the first half of this match and the grass was wet. The handling was not always good but it was certainly a lively encounter which Bellville won after Walvis Bay had led 12-11 at half time.
Wynberg vs Hugenote
The referee for this match was Jonathan Kaplan, international rugby's most capped referee who is still involved in rugby. He certainly added lustre to the match in which the strong, skilful home side were too good for the boys from Wellington
Stellenberg vs Pearson
Pearson of Port Elizabeth were competitive in the first half but as the game wore on they saw less and less of the ball and Stellenberg ran with skill.
Rondebosch vs St John's
Both teams have been struggling to win matches this year and their match was correspondingly close, victory going to the local side over the visitors from Johannesburg.
Tygerberg vs Windhoek High
Tygerberg dominated in the match and it was only late that Windhoek scored their two tries. Tygerberg's handling was excellent.
SACS vs St David's
At last a competitve match. There was no score at half-time and the Marist boys from Inanda in Johannesburg led 7-0 but in the last 10 minutes SACS scored three tires to make the score look comfortable, which it was not.
