Oakdale head for Argentina
Oakdale Landbou of Riversdale, one of South Africa’s top rugby schools, has taken two teams, 1st and 2nd, to Argentina, playing three matches each.
The visit three cities – capital Buenos Aires, and then down beyond the mouth of the River Plate to Mar del Plata on the Atlantic and then over the Pampas up the river to Rosario, the Chicago of the South.
They are playing club sides in the country with probably the most impressive sporting clubs in the world.
The first matches are against Curupayti, founded in 1924. The Club Atletico del Rosario is much older, founded in 1867. The Mar del Plata Rugby Club is the youngest, founded in 1974.
