Potch College win cup

After a two-week lay off because of industrial action that saw the winter sports fixture against St Benedict’s being cancelled Potchefstroom Boys’ High School took on CBC Boksburg to compete for the Thabang M’Bele Trophy in the their final match of the season.

The Thabang M’Bele trophy is in memory of Thabang M’Bele who passed away after concussion on the rugby field in 2002 when College played CBC in Boksburg.

In a tight match that saw College turn 15-6 ahead at half-time, it was the last only the last 15 minutes that College blew CBC away with some great tries. After leading 15-9 with 15 minutes to go, the match was evenly poised and it would require some individual brilliance to secure it for College.

This was provided through a great individual effort from eighthman Pablo Molaudi who scored two tries and was instrumental in most of the other tries. In addition to Molaudi, L Pholoba Thabang Ramashala, L Lila and Daren Salgado scored tries. Thabang (Super) Magolego was on good form with the boot kicking over two penalties and four conversions.

All of CBC’s points came via penalties from fullback Michael Boylan.
