Schools Results - 12 August

There were the Finals of Die Burger‘s competitions with wins in wet Wellington for Paarl Boys’ High (Big Schools), Die Brandwag (Medium Schools) and Bredasdorp (Small Schools).

In the land where the Griffons guard the treasure Afrikaanse Hoerskool had a great victory over Welkom Gimnasium. They now play against the winners of the Griqua final, Diamantveld who came from 17-3 down to win well at Absa Park in the main curtainraiser to the Griquas-Western Province match.

There was a huge win for Grey Bloem and in the wild wind at SACS Bishops won a splendid match in what may just be the oldest schools game in South Africa.

The Lions of Bellville had a good win over the Tigers of Parow.

The number of matches played now gets fewer and fewer especially when their is the temptation to turn a holiday on Thursday into another long weekend.

There was the big derby in Graaff-Reinet and a close encounter in the best derby traditions. This time Union High were the winners.

Die Burger carries a sad tale of Bonnievale, a small school with an eager rugby side. They have managed to produce such a good side that opponents often find excuses to pull out of matches with them. They are now looking for teams to play.

If there are more scores, they can be sent to pauld@365digital.co.za.
