Schools Results 22 July

Strikes are over and the holidays are over and lots of schools are playing rugby again. Some north of the Vaal and over the Drakensberg have given up for the year, which must be a blow to lots of enthusiastic boys.

During the holidays there were the two Craven Weeks, the Academy Week and the Grant Khomo Week. Has there ever been as good a Craven Week side as this year’s Free State side which had 16 players from Grey. Mind you it must be much easier for a province to choose when they have such a strong majority from such a wonderful school.

There was also the Cape Schools Week in East London. Some of the schools did not have full sides. Selborne had a full side-which may just have played better rugby than Border Schools did at Craven Week.

Then came the selection of the SA Schools and SA Academy sides. They played at Newlands on Saturday.

There was a surprising result in Pietermaritzburg when Michaelhouse came down from Olympus to College.
