Eldoraigne again beat Monnas, this time in the final of the Michelin-Reeks, played at LC de Villiers Stadium. That was probably the top match of the weekend.
In the Western Cape SACS and Rondebosch met in a derby between two great schools a kilometre or so apart. while there was little peace when Vredenburg met Vredendal – till after the match.
In a top clash Paarl Gim beat Oakdale 28-18, four tries to two.
Down in Mpumalanga the Erries met the Nellies and the Erries, much improved this year, just won.
Neighbour met neighbour in Westville and Catholic met Catholic at Thomas More.
In KwaZulu Natal there was the elegant Midlands Derby, won in great style by Michaelhouse.
Over the long weekend there were tournaments at Wynberg, nearby Bergvliet and George Campbell when KwaZulu Natal schools played Gauteng schools in their annual crossborder clashes.
There were impressive victories for Grey College of Bloemfontein, ranked No.1 in our first Top 20 of the season, and Duineveld of Upington while Paarl Boy’s High enjoyed a late burst to beat the strong Bellville side.
Queen’s played host to Grey PE in a close encounter, as was the case when Affies met Zwartkop in Pretoria.
