Top 20, 22 May 2007
There is shuffling at the top – not right at the top but just under the peak.
Grey Bloem are the peak this year and so far well and truly unconquered. This time Affies fell to them.
Paarl Gim beat Outeniqua but the surprise was probably Paarl Boys’ High’s victory over Paul Roos, both that they won and the comprehensive nature of the win, scoring four tries to one in the wet.
The other big surprise of the weekend was Bastion’s win over Monnas. Bastion have not been having a great season and lost 31-7 to Monnas earlier, but this win has made us sit up and take notice.
Several schools did not play. We had long weekends and now we have Craven Week trials. It’s not great when Craven Week stops people from playing.
This week Oudtshoorn, who beat Oakdale, Tygerberg, who beat Bishops by two tries to nil in the wind and the rain, and Graeme come into the Top 20 for the first time this year. Graeme are having a great run.
