FNB Top 20 - 19 April 2011

Phew! It’s the first FNB Top 20 for 2011 – always the hardest one.

In evaluating schools we looked at the number of matches played and the quality of the opposition as well as the result. Obviously things will change after Easter when schools like Grey College, Paarl Gim and Paul Roos get a chance to play more.

When these teams have played more, they will be slotted in where it seems right, not necessarily at the bottom.

It is good to get the ranking in perspective. It is not absolute, nor can it be, but it does increase interest in schools rugby in South Africa and it is an acknowledgement and extra reward as well as an encouragement for schools. But the most important perspective is that these are bit a few amongst a vast number of schools playing enthusiastic and skilful rugby in South Africa.
