Schools Top 20 – 5 June 2019
RANKINGS: There are some changes again this week but fewer of them, as there are fewer matches.
There are several Top 20 teams who had no results – Grey Bloem, who played, not as Grey, but as Free State, Garsfontein, Affies, KES, Grey PE, Waterkloof, Outeniqua and Diamantveld. That’s eight out of 20 – 40 percent. They have done nothing to be demoted but nothing to stay where they are, either. They may well have to yield to teams that played.
Still, there are some wobbly feet on the ladder, notably Rondebosch and Menlopark, but beaten by teams not on the ladder, and dear but erratic Boland Landbou but, ranked 19th, their opponents were ranked No.2.
Of the three two below Rondebosch, neither played; the next two teams after that loss and the two teams after them did not play.
Menlopark’s position is similar.
To compound the problem, Glenwood, Selborne and St Andrew’s did not have strong opposition, Boland Landbou lost heavily, and for the second week in a row, there was no significant result for Diamantveld
