Schools Top 20 - May 16

Up till now there have been changes at the top of the Top 20, mostly caused by the vagaries of winning and losing.

This week they are lower down and there are again headaches, mostly caused by losing and not playing.

It takes more than one match to make a shift, but when Monnas (ninth) beat Waterkloof (fourth) at Waterkloof, you want to make a change. But then the Affies-KES match cannot count as it lasted only 26 minutes before the lightning put a stop to it. That makes it hard to move Affies and KES, who wanted to play.

Paarl Gim and Helpmekaar did not play but their positions are not threatened.

Lower down Kearsney, Selborne, Boland Landbou and Menlopark all lost to teams not on the Top 20 while Die Brandwag, Marlow and Hudson Park won.

The upshot is that Stellenberg, Framesby and Durban High School (DHS) get onto the ladder and Maritzburg College replace Michaelhouse in the pressure group below.

Relevant results:

Paarl Boys' High v Grey College, 46-31

Monument v Waterkloof, 20-17

Glenwood v Menlopark, 39-0

Drostdy v Bishops, 32-26

DHS v Kearsney, 12-11

Dale v Selborne, 22-19

Framesby v Boland Landbou, 19-16

Stellenberg v Outeniqua, 43-38

Maritzburg College v Michaelhouse, 49-31
