Top 20 - 29 July 2008
There was the big Top-20 clash this weekend when Grey College went down to the coast from Bloemfontein and played Grey High in Port Elizabeth.
The College beat the High in a cracking game of rugby which could have gone either way, the victory secured by the power of the Bloemfonteiners’ pack.
That has necessitated a change at the top.
All four of the top teams did well.
So did Glenwood with a four tries to one victory over Affies in Durban, the first meeting between the two great schools.
Further down, Paarl Boys’ High and Rondebosch have picked up the pace of late. For Boys’ High it is a great time to peak as they hasten towards Interschools.
Amongst the teams bubbling under are Die Brandwag who had a derby win over Daniël Pienaar, the Rooiskool of Kroonstad who had a massive derby win over the Blouskool and St Andrew’s had a great win in Grahamstown over Marlow of Cradock. Hilton, who beat Kearsney this week, play Michaelhouse next week in the great Midlands Derby. Voortrekker of Btehlehem beat rivals Witteberg.
