Blake ruled out of Ireland Test

Heenan remains in doubt

Australian prop sensation Rodney Blake has been ruled out of the one-off Test against Ireland, in Perth on Saturday, with an ankle injury.

The 130kg prop twisted his ankle in a 27th minute tackle during the Wallabies' 25-point (43-18) Cook Cup victory over England in Melbourne at the weekend.

Blake will have an MRI scan on his ankle later on Monday, but the Wallaby medical staff are confident that the injury is not serious.

"Rodney will have an MRI on his ankle this afternoon, but he's shown a lot of improvement over the past two days," said Wallabies coach John Connolly.

"We will rest him from this weekend's match, but at this stage we're hopeful that he'll be available for the first Tri-Nations match against New Zealand."

Further on the injury front, Daniel Heenan has progressed well in his recovery from a shoulder injury suffered during the first Test in Sydney; however the Brumbies flanker remains in doubt for this weekend's clash with Ireland.

"Daniel's shoulder is progressing well, but we'll give it an extra couple of days to see where he's at before we decide on our back-row for Saturday night," said Connolly.
