Habana's surprise pick for Bok flyhalf spot
SPOTLIGHT: Springbok legend Bryan Habana has picked his Springbok team to face the British and Irish Lions this year.
In what will be a surprise for many fans Habana has opted for Damian Willemse to wear the No.10 jersey for the series.
“I am thinking of going with Damian Willemse at No.10,” said the former Bok wing. “He is a guy who is really picking up some good form and given the fact that Handre [Pollard] is potentially a bit of an uncertainty, I think Damian has definitely got himself in the frame of mind where he is performing exceptionally well.”
Habana has also picked Marcell Coetzee in his starting team, while there is no place for the 2019 World Player of the Year Pieter-Steph du Toit.
“Marcell Coetzee had an absolutely phenomenal season again for Ulster.
“He is coming back to South African shores and going to the Bulls and he will hopefully be ready in time for the Lions,” Habana added.
