Cheetahs star rushed to hospital
NEWS: Free State Cheetahs utility back William Small-Smith was rushed to hospital after he collapsed during the team’s training session on Thursday.
According to South African media reports Small-Smith had trouble breathing and collapsed. He was resuscitated before being rushed to a hospital.
The 27-year-old was subsequently withdrawn from the team and will miss Cheetahs’ Currie Cup match against the Golden Lions.
Cheetahs head coach Franco Smith visited the player and revealed that was kept at the hospital overnight and is in a stable condition.
“It was a shortness of breath that made him collapse. Everyone was very frightened, but it was handled well by the medical staff on the scene,” Smith said.
Small-Smith has been replaced by Tapiwa Mafura in the starting lineup.
