Double blow for Lions
INJURY UPDATE: The Lions have suffered a cruel blow following their Currie Cup opener against the Griquas.
It was revealed that utility back EW Viljoen sustained a grade two hamstring tear during Saturday’s match in Kimberley.
The 25-year-old will be out for four to six weeks and will miss the majority of the Currie Cup season.
The news is a major blow for Lions, who already lost the services of utility back Gianni Lombard due to a knee injury.
The Lions also revealed that loose forward Hacjivah Dayimani underwent a meniscus knee operation last week and will be sidelined for at least three months.
The Lions will host the Western Province on Saturday.
