End of Goosen's season?
Springbok flyhalf Johan Goosen's injured knee may require surgery which would rule him out of action for the rest of the year.
The 20-year-old playmaker, who only recently returned from a shoulder injury and was hampered in the home Rugby Championship Tests against Australia and New Zealand with a bruised heel, suffered the injury at Soccer City on Saturday.
The young pivot limped off the field just before half-time and the injury has since been confirmed as a Grade 3 medial tear.
Goosen will play no further part in the Currie Cup for the Cheetahs and will find out on Tuesday whether or not he does in fact require surgery which will rule him out of the Springboks' year-end tour of Europe.
This will significantly increase Morne Steyn's chances of a recall into the starting line-up after the experienced pivot was dropped following a disappointing campaign, although there will be many calling for Elton Jantjies to get an opportunity in the No.10 jersey after another impressive Currie Cup season.
The fact that Goosen picked up two serious injuries in his debut season will be cause for concern over his future, especially as he has been touted as the long-term answer for the Boks at flyhalf.
