Lions lose star forward
INJURY UPDATE: The Lions depth at loose forward will be tested after an injury setback to Vincent Tshituka.
The Lions’ star loose forward Tshituka will be out for six to eight weeks following a knee injury during their Currie Cup defeat to Pumas on Friday.
The Lions confirmed the news on Tuesday.
The injury report revealed that Tshituka has a Grade II MCL tear in his knee and will be out for six of eight weeks.
Lions, who are at the bottom of the Currie Cup table, also face a nervy wait on Springboks prop Jannie Du Plessis.
The Gauteng-based franchise stated the veteran Bok received a knock to the knee over the weekend.
The severity of the injury has yet to be confirmed.
It is not all doom and gloom for the Johannesburg side.
Former Bulls centre Burger Odendaal, Springbok Ross Cronje and Emmanuel Tshituka have all return from their respective injuries.
The trio will be available for Friday’s Currie Cup match against the Griquas.
The Lions will name their team to face the Griwaus on Thursday.
