Nervy wait for Lions' injury ward
INJURY UPDATE: The Golden Lions have a few new injuries concerns as they prepare for this week’s Currie Cup clash against Sharks.
Loose forward Vincent Tshituka and wing Stean Pienaar both picked up shoulder injuries during their side’s 26-31 defeat to the Blue Bulls at Ellis Park, while Johannes Jonker sustained a calf injury.
Centre Jan Louis la Grange, who suffered a concussion in the 24-22 win over Free State in Bloemfontein, and youngster Manni Rass are both on a Graded Return To Play (GRTP) programme for concussion.
Meanwhile, Jacobie Adriaanse and Cyle Brink are expected to recover from their respective injuries this week.
Dylan Smith is set to on the sidelines for another week – meaning he will only return for the Lions last round-robin fixture – and Courtnall Skosan still have two or three weeks left on his rehabilitation.
The Lions are currently second on the table and two more league matches remaining before the Currie Cup play-offs – against the Sharks in Johannesburg this coming Sunday (August 18) and Griquas in Kimberley (August 24).
