Boshoff out of Currie Cup

The Lions have been dealt a huge blow with Springbok flyhalf Marnitz Boshoff ruled out of the entire Currie Cup season with a fractured arm.

The Lions, against all injury odds, put on the performance of the opening round when they defeated the Bulls 41-13 in Johannesburg on Saturday.

However, coach Johan Ackermann will have more injury headaches other than Boshoff who is due to undergo surgery on Monday and is expected to be out for 12 weeks.

Both Anthony Volmink (shoulder) and Lloyd Greeff (knee) are also expected to be out of action for the remainder of the Currie Cup tournament.

Other members of the Golden Lions backline Alwyn Hollenbach (shoulder) , Michael Bondesio (knee), Courtnall Skosan (cheek bone) and Deon van Rensburg (ribs) are all recovering well and are expected to return to action in the upcoming weeks.

Meanwhile, in the forwards, and on the positive side, Julian Redelinghuys (calf) is also expected to be available for selection again soon.

There are still more concerns over a few players with bumps and bruises with the Golden Lions set to release a comprehensive medical update soon.
