Catrakilis heading back to WP

Kings flyhalf Demetri Catrakilis has confirmed that he will be heading back to Cape Town to play for Western Province in the Currie Cup.

Catrakilis played a vital role in Western Province winning their first Currie Cup title in 11 years last year before heading to Port Elizabeth to play Super Rugby for the Kings.

There have been plenty of rumours linking the playmaker in a move back to Cape Town, and the player himself confirmed the news via twitter on Tuesday.

"So to put all speculation to rest I'm off to @WP_RUGBY for the currie cup!!! Looking fwd to it," he tweeted.

Western Province could not confirm the news, but will likely say more later in the week once the deal is made official.

With Peter Grant in Japan and Elton Jantjies back with the Golden Lions for the Currie Cup, Catrakilis will compete with Gary van Aswegen for a starting role as the Cape side look to retain their title.

The flyhalf is one of a number of Kings players parting ways with the franchise following their relegation from Super Rugby, with Waylon Murray and Jacques Engelbrecht having signed with the Bulls and SP Marais joining the Sharks.
