Cheetahs could bring in Blommetjies for Sharks clash
INJURY UPDATE: The Free State Cheetahs received a boost on the injury front ahead of their Currie Cup clash against the Sharks in Durban on Saturday.
Tian Schoeman’s injury is not as serious as initially thought. The flyhalf left the field with a calf injury on the half-hour mark during his team’s clash with the Golden Lions in Bloemfontein last weekend.
The news means Schoeman could recover in time for the Round Five clash.
If he is unable to play, Louis Fouché will likely slot into the No.10 position this week.
Saturday’s match could also see the return of Clayton Blommetjies in the Currie Cup
OFM revealed that Blommetjies was training at fullback on Monday with Fouché at flyhalf.
Blommetjies returned to Bloemfontein after he was released by Scarlets.
The 28-year-old failed to make an impact with the Welsh side and played in just six matches before being loaned out to English side Leicester Tigers.
Former Scarlets boss Wayne Pivac was not happy with Blommetjies’ fitness levels.
