Cheetahs licking their wounds

The Cheetahs have paid the price for a bruising win against the Griquas on Saturday with Luan de Bruin, Elgar Watts and Johannes Prinsloo looking set to miss their clash against the Sharks.

The Free State Stadium turned into a minor battlefield on Saturday with medical teams having to stretcher players off on more than one occasion.

Young prop Luan de Bruin suffered a terrible head-knock that sent blood spraying from his mouth in the first half, he is suffering from concussion and could be out for some time.

Elgar Watts, who recently returned to the Cheetahs setup, is struggling with a knee injury.

Johannes Prinsloo is suffering with a groin injury after Saturday's win.

For both these players it will be a nervy wait to see wait to see how serious the injuries are when they go for scans during the week.

There is some good news after the battlefield skirmish in Bloemfontein, Raymond Rhule and Dolph Botha, who both looked like suffering serious injuries, will be available for the Sharks clash in Durban.

Furthermore, Caylib Oosthuizen and Pieter Labuschagne seem to be recovering well, a call will be made later on in the week for their availability for next Saturday's match.

Clayton Blommetjies is also fit again and will be available for next weekend's Currie Cup match.
