Daniel in line for Sharks comeback
The Sharks are hoping to welcome back captain Keegan Daniel from injury for Friday night’s Currie Cup clash with the Cheetahs in Durban.
The Springbok loose forward was a late withdrawal from the team that lost 30-32 to Griquas in the opening round and missed the 33-25 win over the Golden Lions at the weekend due to a knee injury.
However, Sharks forwards coach Brad Macleod-Henderson is hopeful that last year’s finalists will receive a timely triple boost ahead of Friday’s crunch fixture.
“We hope to have Tim Whitehead and Sizo Maseko back for the next game and Keegan Daniel should hopefully also be back for selection as well, that’s a big bonus,” he said.
Jean Deysel, man of the match against the Lions, and Marco Wentzel are carrying a couple of bumps and bruises while new signing SP Marais, whose try on debut sealed the Sharks’ first victory of the season, is likely to move from wing to his preferred position of fullback after Springbok veteran Odwa Ndungane pulled a hamstring at the weekend.
