Double citing for Bulls

Blue Bulls flyhalf Morne Steyn and prop Morne Mellett have both been cited for incidents of foul play in the Currie Cup semifinal against the Sharks.

Steyn has been cited for two separate offences – a dangerous tackle with a stiff arm on Sharks fullback Louis Ludik which contravened law, 10.4 (a) and another incident of striking an opponent which allegedly breached law 10.4 (e).

Law 10.4 (a) Punching or striking. A player must not strike an opponent with the fist or arm, including the elbow, shoulder, head or knee(s).

Law 10.4 (e) Dangerous tackling. A player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously.

Mellett was cited for a deliberate trip off the ball on Sharks flyhalf Patrick Lambie which which was contrary to law 10.4 (d) and for which he received a yellow card.

Law 10.4 (d) (d) Tripping. A player must not trip an opponent with the leg or foot.

Both players will appear in front of judiciary officer in Pretoria on Tuesday.
