Griquas staring down the barrel

Griquas have lost four games in succession and need to pick up the pieces this week before they host the Sharks next Saturday in Kimberley.

Coach Pote Human's team went down 38-32 to the Golden Lions on home turf on Saturday, leaving them at the bottom of the Currie Cup standings.

Although there were many positives, Human believes his side is struggling to adapt in the midst of all the disruptions due to injuries.

"We were disrupted by the absence of a couple of stalwarts, but we need to lift our heads and work towards the game against the Sharks," Human said.

The Kimberley side were in with a shout of snatching victory at the end of the match, but could not finish it off and claimed their second losing bonus point at home this season.

Human said that although there were encouraging signs, it was still an incredibly frustrating match and increases the pressure ahead of the Sharks' visit next week.

"We did a couple of things well against the Lions, and we did a couple of things poorly. I thought we defended well, but we gave away too many penalties, especially the break down areas.

"We allowed the Lions to play from our mistakes and they capitalised on them. In the end, it is very disappointing for us," he said.
