Jake drops big backline hints
WATCH as Bulls Director of Rugby and coach Jake White answers some pressing questions on team selection.
Speaking on his weekly video chat, No Holds Barred, White drops some big hints on his thoughts around selection when the Currie Cup gets underway next month.
White said he is still putting the players through their paces and he is working on various combinations.
“What I have seen since I have been here, is that there are so many players who can play in different positions,” White said, when quizzed about the player most likely to start at No.13.
“For me, the most important thing is not so much who is going to be No.13, it is what is going to be the best backline combination.”
He pointed to the Wallabies who, at one stage, feature four ‘fullbacks’ in their backline – Matt Rogers, Matt Burke, Chris Latham and Stephen Larkham.
“I would like to try different combinations and find the best combination that can gel as a unit.”
He also pointed to the value of having left-footed and right-footed kickers to release the pressure.
