Jake not joining WP

Western Province have confirmed that they are not in talks with former Springbok coach Jake White about a possible position at the union.

Media reports from Australia on Wednesday indicated that White has stepped down from his role with Super Rugby franchise, the Brumbies, but the Cape-based union said suggestions that he will be taking up a job at Western Province are off the mark.

Western Province Rugby CEO Rob Wagner said: “News of Jake White’s resignation was just that to us today – news.

“We are aware that top-class coaches – and players – will always be linked to jobs or opportunities at the Stormers or Western Province, but we have not had any talks or negotiations with Jake White.”
