Labuschagne out for Kings clash
Bulls flank Pieter Labuschagne will miss the first warm-up match of his team's Currie Cup campaign against the Eastern Province Kings on July 17.
Labuschagne suffered a vocal cord injury against the Rebels in the Super Rugby competition and will only return to the playing field on July 20, team doctor Org Strauss confirmed on Tuesday.
A number of regulars will also return to the training field next week when newly appointed coach Nollis Marais takes to the field for the first time with his new troops.
Jan Serfontein (knee) will report on June 22 and all of Janus Kirsten (hamstring), Deon Stegmann (ribs), Dean Greyling (hamstring) and Jade Stighlingh (hamstring) a week later on June 29.
A number of longer term injury players are nearing a date to return to the field as well. Irne Herbst and Piet van Zyl (knee) have been ruled out for the season, but Pierre Schoeman (knee, July 31), Bandise Maku (pectoral, July 31), and Ruan Steenkamp (knee, July 31) are in the final six weeks of rehabilitation.
Ryan Nell (knee) and Duncan Matthews (knee) will return on August 31.
