Lambie back training after concussion scare
Lambie has been on the sidelines since he got concussed after a sickening collision with Ireland flank Christiaan Stander on June 11.
The 25-year-old has been struggling to recover from concussion-related symptoms for the last two months and there were concerns about his future in the game.
However, Sharks team doctor Alan Kourie confirmed that Lambie has resumed "modified" field training on Monday. But there is still no word on a possible date for Lambie's return to the playing field.
In other injury news, Loose forward Lubabalo Mtembu will be out of action for six weeks with a medial collateral ligament sprain.
Mtembu picked up the injury in his team's win over Boland in Round Three and was sent for an MRI scan to reveal the severity of the injury.
Lock Stephan Lewies has resumed training with the Sharks this week and could be in contention for his team's crunch match against the Free State Cheetahs in Durban on Saturday. He has been out of action with a hamstring strain.
Michael Claassens (thumb ligament tear; big toe capsule tear) and Daniel du Preez (groin injury) have both resumed training this week, but are still unavailable for selection.
Scrumhalf Cobus Reinach, who injured his anterior cruciate ligament in Super Rugby, is expected to return to action in February next year.
Meanwhile, Sharks head coach Robert du Preez admitted that his team got outplayed in their Currie Cup Premier Division Round Five defeat (27-34) to Western Province at the weekend.
"To be honest we were never in the game in the first half and we got lucky to get back and be ahead at half-time, Du Preez said.
"I think we had opportunities, but we just could not look after the ball. We got outplayed.
"Our discipline wasn’t great and that when that happens it is always going to stop momentum."
