Lions lose hero prop
INJURY UPDATE: The Golden Lions will face another big challenge at scrum time when they take on Blue Bulls in a Currie Cup Round Five fixture in Johannesburg on Saturday.
And to make matters worse they will head into the match without prop Jacobie Adriaanse, who is struggling with a calf strain.
The scrums were a massive issue for the Lions in their match against the Free State Cheetahs.
However, when it mattered most, two minutes from time, they produced a massive scrum to win a crucial penalty and Adriaanse played a massive role in that after coming off the bench.
Meanwhile, Wilhelm van der Sluys and Jan-Louis la Grange both suffered a concussion in the 24-22 win over the Cheetahs, but they are expected to be available for selection for Saturday’s match.
On the long-term injury list include wing Courtnall Skosan, loose forward Cyle Brink, prop Dylan Smith and centre Wayne van der Bank are all expected to return to action in the next three or four weeks.
The Golden Lions are currently unbeaten in this year’s tournament with three wins from three matches.
They are second in the standings with Griquas two points ahead of them in first place.
