However, two key forwards – hooker Malcolm Marx and lock Franco Mostert – are being ‘rested’, despite training with the team.

Springboks Elton Jantjies, Aphiwe Dyantyi and Warren Whiteley have been included in the team to face the Sharks at Kings Park.

“Malcolm and Franco have been training with the seniors this week, but it is imperative that the players are managed – in conjunction with the South African Rugby Union – for the upcoming Test against England [next month],” Lions Rugby Company CEO Rudolf Straeuli said.

“The Lions are proud of our growth and fortunate to continue to introduce and develop juniors into our senior system,” he added.
