Massive front row blow for Bulls
INJURY UPDATE: The Bulls suffered an injury setback on the eve of South Africa’s return to play.
The Bulls confirmed that young prop Simphiwe Matanzima sustained a complete tear of his Achilles tendon during a conditioning session.
He underwent successful surgery on Friday.
While he is expected to make a full recovery, he will be out for an extended duration – which may last up to 9 months.
“It’s a long road to recovery, but we have no doubt that he will tackle it head-on with the positive energy and come out smiling as he always does,” the Bulls said in a statement.
